Cookie dough simply makes us all jump for joy! This Edible Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough is quite close to the real thing, without the eggs of course! Enjoy it as a dip with your favourite snacks or with a spoon and dig in! This edible cookie dough is so easy to make with just a few ingredients and it can be ready in minutes!

Healthy Edible Protein Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

What do we all do when we’re baking cookies? Lick the spoon when we make the batter of course! I hope I don’t sound like a party pooper but I actually don’t really lick the batter much. The raw eggs really do freak me out, so I pretty much discard the batter right away. On the other hand, I’ve had some little bites of the Pillsbury ready to bake cookie dough - before the news came out that the new formulation is actually safe to eat raw (!!) That’s really sounding amazing to me right now actually!

Well, I hope the new cookie dough formulation won’t deter you away from the recipe to follow! This may not be the classic Pillsbury cookie dough we all know and love, but this is a healthy edible cookie dough that you can enjoy and still get a taste of eating cookie dough! This edible cookie dough recipe has only FOUR ingredients and can be ready in about 5 minutes! You can serve it immediately or chill it in the fridge - I find it’s delicious both at room temperature and chilled! Personally, I like it at room temperature because I do like it a little smoother and not as firm, but the choice is yours!

Ingredients in Edible Cookie Dough

This edible cookie dough is completely eggless! We’re going to get the doughy texture by combining oat flour and Greek yogurt. Here’s exactly what you’ll need for this recipe:

  • Greek yogurt: Greek yogurt is necessary because its consistency will become firm, binding the oat flour and sugar together to give you a creamy cookie dough.

  • Quick oats: Blended into oat flour.

  • Sugar: You could use any sweetener of choice, such as stevia or honey.

  • Vanilla extract: A little goes a long way. It adds a nice fragrance and sweetness!

  • Chocolate chips: Use whatever chocolate chips you love. I’d recommend semi-sweet to contrast against the colour of the dough, but go ahead and use whatever chocolate chips you have available to your and what you’re craving!

Is Raw Cookie Dough Safe to Eat?

Usually the answer is no. That’s because all-purpose flour contains harmful bacteria. If you search for traditional edible cookie dough recipes, you’ll see that they roast the flour in the oven before using. In this case, we’re going to use quick oats that were blended into oat flour. There’s no harm in consuming this raw at all!

Protein Edible Cookie Dough?

Not only is this cookie dough recipe safe to eat, but I’d encourage you to eat it! Who would have thought that you could get a good serving of protein in your cookie dough? That’s thanks to the Greek yogurt! We also have some whole grains from the blended oats. Tasty and healthy, gotta love that two-in-one for a dessert, right! No reason you can’t enjoy cookie dough!

What’s great about this cookie dough recipe is that we don’t have to worry about cooking off the flour since we’re using oat flour! You can make this cookie dough quite literally whenever you’ve got the craving! That could be a good or dangerous thing, haha! But let’s get into the method!

1. In a bowl, combine the yogurt and oat flour and mix well. Add the sugar and vanilla extract and mix. If you want the dough to be sweeter, gradually add your sweetener until you have the desired sweetness.

2. Add half the chocolate chips and mix well. Use a scoop to transfer scoopfuls in a bowl, top with rest of the chocolate chips and sprinkles. Either refrigerate for later or enjoy immediately!
